Behind the Scenes

The extraordinary artists, writers, and performers below donated countless hours to bring this story to life. What Happened in Skinner is the product of their collective talents– and their unparalleled generosity.

  • Aaron Blanton

    Showrunner

Aaron hails from Eugene, Oregon, and spent his adolescence getting into trouble on the Oregon Coast. Clearly, his interests haven’t changed much. Like Susan and Marlowe, he’s a graduate of the University of Oregon. He met Annika in middle school, Sam in high school, Kaitlyn in college, and Katie just after. And while his career outside podcasting has spanned film, television, and garnered him a Peabody Award, it’s this project– with a team pulled from every chapter of his life– that means the most.

  • Katrina Braun

    Showrunner

Katie is a lawyer-accidentally-turned podcast/filmmaker. But, really, she was always acting, singing, and running around trying to make anachronistic period films in her hometown of Ann Arbor, MI; and she was always making everything more complicated with assorted philosophy, psychology, and theology. She currently lives in New York, where she is a staff attorney at the nonprofit Children’s Rights. This project - and this team - mean more to her than any short paragraph could express.

  • Kaitlyn Gaskill

    Writer

When Kaitlyn isn’t working her day job administrating, she is a writer and seeker-of-wonder located in the Pacific Northwest. A lifelong resident of Oregon and a graduate of the Vancouver Film School, Kaitlyn has spent many a day imagining the ghosts and beasties that can be found in waves and shadows. She is infinitely grateful for and inspired by the passionate group of creatives who came together to tell this story – and the Whispers who dared to look into the shadows right along with them.

  • Annika Bennett

    Writer

Annika is a playwright and dramaturg who currently serves as the magister of the Seattle branch of Auremana. She has a longtime interest in the lore and mythos of the Pacific Northwest, so bringing Skinner and its inhabitants to life over the last year has been a (caffeine-fueled and occasionally delirious) delight. Much gratitude to everyone who rode that rickety little foot ferry out there with us.

  • Aurélie Webb

    Composer

Aurélie Webb is a British composer specialising in scores for film and live performance. She has collaborated with artists from across the world in various genres and has a particular love of mystery-thrillers and sci-fi. Recent credits include contemporary dance piece ‘Green Sahara’ and she is currently working on a documentary commission. Aurélie has enjoyed working on WHIS immensely and would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to the cast, crew, and all our Whispers.

  • TJ Henkelis

    Editor

Born and raised in the North West of England, TJ now works as a freelance editor in London. He graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with an MA in Film Editing. Other recent credits include short films “Viridios” and “Dig”. TJ loved working on WHIS but is very happy Marlowe is no longer taking credit for his work.

Kayla is a graduate of NYU (B.F.A in Drama and B.A minor in Africana Studies, Cum Laude). • Sam Z. Morrison

    Rex Wurlitz / Story Team

Sam began hurtling through his life in the arts at 15 in Eugene, Oregon. He has since earned a B.S. in Theatre Arts from Portland State University. His credits including Hamlet in "Hamlet," Iago in "Othello," and a myriad of small, weird roles in small, weird plays. Helping to give life to WHIS has been an unmatched creative experience in his life, and he is so grateful to the writers, producers, creators, and above all the dedicated fans. After all, the real cult is the friends we made along the way.

  • Rebecca Ana Peña

    Susan Wylde

Bec is a Cuban American artist and graduate of NYU Tisch. She’s worked with companies such as Theater of War and The Classical Theatre of Harlem, where she was named a stand-out by the New York Times (and her mother). She also works within the city to help expand sanctuary spaces for immigrant communities (@immigrationcoalition - if you’re interested as well!). She’s very thankful for this team and her time in Skinner!

  • Ethan Crystal

    Greg Skinner

Credits include HBO’s I Know This Much Is True, Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants social media page, and NBC’s The Sing Off. Ethan works freelance as a wedding singer, musical improviser, and more. He is also the co-writer of the award winning musical Golem Owned A Tropical Smoothie.
